For a lot of our patients, the thing that holds them back the longest from seeking out hearing care is that they aren’t sure what happens after they’ve realized they need it.
Hearing care isn’t as common as, say, a dentist’s appointment or an annual physical. While people know exactly what happens during a teeth cleaning, a hearing assessment is uncharted territory for many people.
Curious as to how your hearing health journey will progress? Take a look at our handy flow chart that shows exactly what happens through each step, from booking your first appointment to getting your devices maintained for longevity.
Book an Appointment
After you’ve done your research into the most advanced audiology clinic in the Lufkin area, you’ll want to book an appointment for a comprehensive hearing assessment. Don’t worry – whether it’s your first hearing assessment or your fifth, we’re here to help every step of the way!
If you’re hesitating due to some unanswered questions, you can always request a callback and a member of our team will get in touch with you with answers.
Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation
During a comprehensive hearing assessment, we’ll take a closer look at your ears and your current range of hearing. Our hearing assessments aren’t that long—a little over an hour at most—but we get a fully detailed understanding of how your ears are working and how professional hearing care can help.
Hearing assessments have four parts: a conversation about your unique circumstances, a physical examination of your ears, the hearing evaluation itself, and discussing your results regarding next steps.
Here, depending on your results, we’ll go one of two ways. If your hearing loss challenge was resolved by a removal of earwax or a change of medication, we’ll book you in for annual hearing assessments to keep an eye on your ears.
However, if your results show that you could benefit from more extensive hearing care, then we’ll continue serving you and your needs as follows.
Treatment Plans and Technology Demos
After discussing your results, we’ll see what kind of treatment plans would work best for you, your needs, and your preferences.
There’s the option to try out some of the technology that could work for you too – so if you’re curious about how some of our hearing aids might work for you, you can demo the technology before committing to purchasing one.
Initial Fitting
Once you’ve chosen your hearing aids from our collection of manufacturers and models, we’ll take care to fit it to your exact prescription so that you’ll be hearing better sooner.
The fitting is an advanced, multi-step process, including Real Ear Measurement, so that your hearing aid won’t feel loose or leave gaps while sitting in your ear canal. We’ll also give you some instructional training so you’ll better understand your hearing aids and how they work.
After your initial fitting, you’ll have your hearing aids ready to go. Follow-up appointments will be put in place to make sure your devices continue working as needed.
Real World Adjustments
This appointment makes sure that your hearing aids perform well in the key situations needed – from adjusting when you’re inside versus outside, figuring out which voices to elevate, and making sure the devices are tuned correctly, we’ll take your feedback and apply it to your hearing aids.
Technology Assessment
Through smartphone connectivity, you can make real-time adjustments to your programming and receive support through your phone, no matter where you are. We’ll help you get set up so you’ll be able to use all the different features available to you.
Preventative Maintenance Appointments
To make sure that your devices continue working as needed, we offer maintenance appointments to help you keep them in the best shape possible. This includes professional quarterly cleanings, inspections, repairs, and training so you’ll know how to maximize the longevity and performance of your devices.
Annual Hearing Evaluations
Your hearing isn’t static – neither is our care! As your hearing changes over the years, so will your hearing technology needs. We’ll make sure to monitor your hearing health through annual hearing evaluations to keep your devices up to date with what you need most.
