Our Audiology Staff
Dr. Leah Guempel received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders in 2007 and her doctorate from the University of Texas in 2010. While in graduate school, Dr. Guempel was named outstanding first year graduate student in Audiology and Sertoma outstanding graduate student in Audiology.
During graduate school, Dr. Guempel had several clinical rotations she completed throughout Austin including rotations at Dell Children's Hospital and an ENT practice. Dr. Guempel also had a rotation at Cook Hearing & Balance as a student clinician, and after completing her 4th year rotation there, worked as a Doctor of Audiology in the Austin and Cedar Park locations. Dr. Guempel became the audiologist at the Cook Hearing & Balance office in San Marcos when it opened September of 2011. In December of 2012, Dr. Guempel bought Cook Hearing & Balance in San Marcos and renamed it Central Texas Hearing Center. She then opened the Central Texas Hearing Center in Lakeway, Texas. Most recently she purchased Audiological Services in Lufkin, TX.
Dr. Guempel is licensed to practice Audiology in the State of Texas. She is a Fellow of the American Academy (AAA) and holds a certificate of clinical competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Guempel has a passion for hearing awareness. She enjoys her field of practice and hopes to inform and educate the community about the importance of early detection and the use of hearing protection. She is dedicated to helping those who suffer from hearing impairment.
In her free time, Dr. Guempel enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and anything outdoors.
Tina has had the privilege of being part of this amazing hearing healthcare practice for over 15 years. She became a Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS) as well as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) in 2014. When she first joined Audiological Services, it was only the audiologist and herself; now, along with the rest of the team, have served the community well and grown the practice for over 25 years. Her mission is to provide professional, quality hearing healthcare while increasing public awareness regarding the early identification, treatment, and rehabilitation options for hearing loss. Her vision as the premier hearing healthcare center in East Texas where staff members genuinely welcome all who enter the door, work together to provide unsurpassed quality of care and effectively improve quality of life for her patients. Her values are honest, ethical professionalism, personalized care, integrity, reliable service with the most advanced technology, innovative hearing solutions with guaranteed satisfaction, and a warm friendly atmosphere.
In her time away from work, Tina enjoys being involved in her church, and traveling with her husband, family, or friends in her RV. Tina’s handsome grandson is her pride and joy.
Tammy has been working in the hearing industry for over 10 years. She began her career in the medical field 37 years ago. As Practice Administrator, she works to ensure that the staff is adequately trained in both customer care and day to day operations. As Audiological Services continued to expand so did her role.
She manages the daily operations for a total of three offices. She works closely with both the owner, office staff and the audiologists to ensure excellent patient satisfaction. In addition to patient care, she also manages accounts payable, accounting, billing, and human resources.
It is her goal to ensure that Audiological Services is prepared to meet and exceed the expectations of each patient. She is very passionate about customer care, and she gains a great deal of satisfaction knowing that the work we do contributes to a greater quality of life for every patient.
In her free time, Tammy enjoys traveling, being involved in her church, and spending time with her friends and family and playing with her grandbabies.
On March 28, 2012, she joined the team at Audiological Services. Recently, she has changed positions from Audiology Technician to Insurance Coordinator.
She attended Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. Her experience of 15 years working in the field of law as a legal assistant in two different states aids her in the detailed work she does for Audiological Services. In her 8 years as an Audiology Technician, she was proficiently skilled in the mechanical care of hearing instruments, including problem solving, handling creation and management of audiology documentation IT support, taking care of patient room equipment, stock, and shipments.
In her current position as Insurance Coordinator, she handles claim processing, insurance payments, creation and management of audiology documentation and IT support. She manages communication and all paperwork concerning all third-party entities, which includes Texas Workforce Commission, Veterans Affairs, Crocket Resource Center, Hearing Care Solutions, and more. She strives to always be a hardworking, dedicated employee and firmly believes in doing her best every day.
Jacquelyn loves her eight grandchildren and five children. She enjoys playing games with the family and traveling to see her loved ones. She is an avid reader and knits in her spare time.
Misti has been a patient coordinator with Audiological Services for 7 years. She greets the patients, prepares, and monitors the schedule for the week, updates and maintains patient accounts and helps direct the flow of traffic in the office. Her favorite thing about her position is the personal interaction she gets with the patients.
When she is not working, she loves to travel, exercise, and spend time with her family.
Hearing Aid Technician
Kelly has been the Hearing Aid Technician here at Audiological Services since September of 2020, but in the hearing industry since 2013. She not only cleans and repairs hearing devices, but also counsels and instructs patients with all their Bluetooth and electronic needs as well. Kelly oversees shipments, ordering hearing devices from multiple manufacturers, and keeping the office stocked with all your hearing care needs. She loves helping to create a friendly atmosphere for our patients.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys riding the motorcycle with her husband, and spending time with him, their children, and precious grandbabies.
As a Patient Coordinator Brenda’s primary role is to perform administrative tasks, including answering phone calls, entering patient data, scheduling patient visits, and coordinating multiple schedules.
As a part of carrying out this roll, she advocates for patients to ensure that they get the best care possible.
Brenda enjoys talking with patients as they share life stories. Getting to know our patients and creating a comfortable/caring atmosphere is important to her.
Brenda loves to read and enjoys her hobbies like crafting and sewing. She loves her church and is involved in leading several classes. She spends her off time with her children, grandchildren and family having game nights and Bar-B-Q’s.
